    Winter Potpourri

    Winter potpourri is a rich, spicy, fragrant blend most suitable for a den or library where it can be enjoyed in quiet comfort by a fire and a good book.

    Ingredients:
    2 cups  dried rose petals
    1 cup dried rosebuds
    1 cup bay leaves, crumbled
    2 tablespoons dried basil
    3 tablespoons sandalwood chips
    2 tablespoons juniper berries
    1 tablespoon whole cloves
    3 star anise
    1 tablespoon orris root, coursely chopped and sifted
    4 drops  rose essential oil
    2 drops clove bud essential oil
    1 drop sandalwood essential oil
    1 drop juniper berry essential oil

    Blending Procedure:

    1. Combine all ingredients except essentil oil and orris root in a large stainless steel bowl. Cover and set aside.

    2. Place the orris root into a glass measuring cup. Measure the essential oils into the orris root and stir to combine.

    3. Combine the scented orris root with the botanicals in a stainless steel or gladd container and cover. Allow everything to steep for at least 3 weeks, shaking periodically to create the lovely marriage of aromas.

    4. To use to scent a room, pour the potpourri into a pretty display bowl and place it anywhere in the room where a whiff of aroma will delight the senses. Refresh as needed with additional essential oil.
