    Maple Oat Facial Scrub
submitted by IBN President Donna Maria

Maple Oat Facial Scrub is a really great way to use a product that most people only think of for pancakes and waffles. Maple syrup has a warm and homey aroma that blends nicely with lots of essential oils, plus its texture makes it a surprisingly effective medium for a soothing facial scrub. Isn''t it wonderful to pamper your skin naturally??!!

(While you can substitute maple flavored syrup for this recipe (which is composed mainly of corn syrup), the texture will not be nearly as rich and the aroma will not even come close to what is provided by real maple syrup.)

    Blending Procedure:

    1. Warm the milk in a microwave. Do not burn or boil it, just warm it lightly for about 15 seconds.

    2. Combine the maple syrup and milk and stir well to dissolve syrup. Add oats and stir. Let sit for 5 minutes.

    3. Add essential oils and stir again to ensure the mix.

    4. To use, wet face and scoop Maple Oat Facial Scrub into palms. Secure hair away from face. Apply to face and neck using upward, sweeping motions, and gentle, circular motions to clean the skin. Repeat if desired (or just because you like the way it feels and smells!) Rinse well and follow with toner and moisturizer.

    5. The shelf life of this product is necessarily limited by the fresh milk. You can store it in a tightly closed container in the refrigerator for as long as you would safely store milk in the refrigerator. Check the "use by" date on the milk carton you use for an idea of how long the product may remain fresh in the refrigerator. Enjoy!!

"This was a great facial scrub! I wish I could use a natural preservative in this facial scrub so it could last longer and without being refrigerated."

"I adore this scrub. I substituted 3 drops of the Gentle Baby Young Living EO blend for the suggested EOs. It smelled great and my skin is so smooth and fresh looking today!"
