    Henna Hair Conditioning

Henna is scientifically known for its ability to make hair thicker. It is a completely natural and highly effective treatment. Neutral colored henna is used in this recipe because it does not color hair. Regular red henna or a natural colored concoction can be used, but it must be remembered that hair color results will vary with the individual.

Bear in mind that henna is not for everyone! Some find it drying to the hair and you may not be able to dye over it until it grows out.

    Blending Procedure:

    1. Add enough boiled water to henna to form a slightly thick paste. Add the water a little at a time so as not to add too much. Allow to sit for approximately 30 minutes.

    2. Use immediately upon mixing. Mask hair with paste and allow the paste to set on the hair for about an hour.

    3. Wash off and follow up with a natural shampoo and conditioner.

"If you want to die your hair as well as thicken, I would recommend to let henna mixture to sit for a couple of hours or even overnight in a warm place, like beside the heater... And there is also no holding time on the hair, i.e. if you've got a whole day at home - wear the mask for the whole day - it will not harm you. Plus you could add a bit (about 1 tbsp) castor oil to prevent henna from drying on your head as well condition and treat the scalp. Try that."

"MAKE SURE this is not just typical henna as it will dye your hair permanently red. "Neutral Henna" typically means Cassia Obovata. It is GREAT to use on hair and has only a very light shade of blonde if you mix it with something acidic like water with a teaspoon of lemon juice in it and let it sit for 12 or so hours covered before applying for a couple of hours."
